Happy New Year!
Welcome to a new decade of motorcycling fun. I want to first say
“Thank You” to the Topwings for welcoming me and my family to the group. I have
ridden
with many friends over the years, but none has been more fun than this group.
Thanks to Wayne for leading and setting an example for me to follow. I will do
my best to
carry on and help make belonging to the Topwings fun, safe and enjoyable for as
many partici-
pants as we can.
Thanks also to the staff that is staying on to help out and to the new staff
that will be
starting along with me. I am looking forward to a year full of fun activities
and hopefully meet-
ing new riders and seeing some new sights with our friends.
We were fortunate to catch a window of decent weather for our last group ride of
2009. On the
evening of the 22nd, 6 bikes got together for a ride through town to look at the
Christmas lights.
We changed our ride plan at the last minute due to some potential precipitation
moving in from
the West. We toured the Bivins area, ending up at the house behind Sonic on
Georgia with the
dancing lights and music. After riding by Crocket Middle School area to allow a
certain HD
rider to safely drop out due to a blown fuse (sorry Dad), Brad H. led us over to
Gainsborough
at Coulter to see the group that did their entire block with lights and
decorations. Wow! We had
a great ride followed by some hot cocoa at Hastings. What a great way to see the
lights and end
the year riding with friends.
Several members helped raise $180.00 for the club by bidding and purchasing
airplane
rides to see the lights. We enjoyed good flying weather and great views on every
flight. Thanks
to Terry G., Glenn and Pam T., Bill and Betty H. (for the flight purchased for
their family), and
Brad H. and family.
Thanks also to those members who helped out with the wish lists for several
veterans at the
home. I know that they truly appreciated your generosity.
I am looking forward to my trip to Killeen for the Mid-Winter Roundup to learn
more about
my new “job”.
Lastly, I have spoken with the Plaza and we will keep our monthly meeting
schedule the
same (2nd Thursday of the month) at 7PM at the Plaza at 34th and Bell. See you
all at the meet-
ing.
