CD's Chatter  / Wayne Early   November 09

Another month under our belts and riding season is not over for some of us. Only in Texas can it be warm
and sunny, then raining, and to top it off, a heavy snow, and back to sunny all in one day. I just hope the weather
will hold out till I get back from California. I started this chatter with the weather, because I don't know where to
start. I have many things to say and not sure where to start. I guess I will go as the month went, day by day. I need
to give a big Thank You to Mike Gause for the "New" homepage of Top Wings he designed, it really looks good.
He will be helping us on keeping the website up to date. I could never do that with the little talent that I have, if I
have any at all, and my motor mouth is not a talent. I know a couple of you are smirking at that statement.

The next event we just finished was the Veteran’s Parade. We had 21 bikes, with the help of the BACA
group (Bikers Against Child Abuse). The chapter itself had a descent turn out on bikes. Breakfast was funny in one
way, I warned the owner that there were going to be a large group but he didn't think we were going to have as
many as showed up. I told him.

The Parade was well perceived by the public of our effort. I can't say "Thank You" enough to Bob
Whitaker. He had me running in circles. This was the first year the chapter had tag teams in the parade. The
BACA and the Women's Veterans of America joined up with us. The WVA didn't have the resources that they
needed to be in the parade, so we helped them out in a big way. BACA came into the picture in a funny way and
wanted to know if our two groups can possibly start doing some events together. This year we had a large float that
a trike could not pull. It had to be pulled by a pick-up. There were 11 to 12 people on the float. Most of them were
war Veterans from all the wars or conflicts, from WWII, up to the present. I want to Thank them for coming out
and participating with us. I bet Debbie's dad wasn't lonely this year.

I will be gone at this coming chapter meeting so Ray will kick off the Christmas season by asking for volun-
teers. We need volunteers just like we did last year to go shopping for us. We are going to get 4 to 5 names from
the Texas Veterans Retirement Center Christmas tree this year again. These people need what we can do for them.
They generally just need the everyday things of life, socks, coat, shirts, pants, etc. They will make their list in the
upcoming weeks. As soon as they do, I will get the names and their lists and call upon those members willing to
help.

BACA is supposed to be at this meeting to ask for our help. They have a dinner on Dec 4th, I think. They
need food donated, so they can prepare a feast for those in need. They will also take cash donations.

In the coming weeks, we will be passing the boot to generate some extra cash for the names we will get
from the retirement center for Christmas. I know it’s asking a lot but I feel sure we have the spirit to make these
groups have a very merry Christmas.  If I don't have the privilege of seeing any of you before Thanksgiving, I wish each and everyone of you a safe and happy time.

Till next time, Think Safe, Ride Safe
